SWINE FLU AND VACCINATIONS UPDATE By Dr. Michael W. Fox

As a veterinarian I am deeply concerned about the wholesale vaccination business where the owners of cats and dogs, not at risk being indoor animals, are none the less mandated to receive various vaccinations. I am also concerned about the vast spectrum of different vaccinations, enormously profitable to their manufacturers who enjoy government support, being given to farmed animals kept under stressful, epidemic-fostering conditions in factory farms and feedlots. They do not, as a rule, live long enough to see the adverse consequences of vaccinations, although the high incidence of abortions in pregnant cows following certain vaccinations is a growing concern. Because of the high incidence of adverse reactions to vaccinations in dogs and cats now being recognized and reported, and because these companion animals live longer than farmed animals killed for human consumption, they have become the canaries down the vaccination mine-shaft alerting us to the potential risks of repeated and unwarranted vaccinations and the adjuvants and preservatives therein.

These concerns parallel those of human health professionals and informed parents facing compulsory vaccinations for children. The recent high profile, fear-invoking propaganda of government and non-government agencies and organizations advocating mass-vaccinations against the H1N1 strain of Swine flu is but a prelude to epidemics and pseudo-epidemics to come. The real prevention of these---in many instances involving the abolition of cruel ‘CAFOs’--confined/ concentrated animal feeding/finishing operations, and in other instances outlawing further disruption and displacement of wildlife and habitat along with their protection and restoration ---continues to be blocked by the corrupting and paralyzing influence of vested economic interests.

I see some hope in the recovery of health care and disease prevention sanity for civil society in the efforts of organizations like the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, in publications like Acres USA, and the Pandemic Response Project about which the following information was recently sent to me:

The Pandemic Response Project is proud to announce the Swine Flu Review: A concise but comprehensive summary and fully referenced review of the Pandemic problems and serious implications to US citizens given our severely limited rights under current emergency health laws. This Report is not only a critical information piece, it's a Tool designed to inspire state and federal representatives to support our request for reform of emergency health laws, to give us the right to refuse fast-tracked, experimental vaccines and other emergency medical protocol in declared emergencies, and to do emergency quarantines in our homes or other legal place of our choosing whenever legitimate quarantines are ordered. Most U.S. citizens don't have these rights under current laws!
