Question:
Is there any way I can help two outside male cats avoid being bitten by mosquitoes and fleas? One is an old, crippled feral and the other a cat put out by a neighbor. Is there anything that will help them naturally fight off colds? What do you recommend I feed them? Should I have a vet come out and give them both shots? If so, which shots? They both have been trapped and fixed. I have three indoor cats I have adopted from shelters and cannot bring either of the outdoor cats inside.

Answer:
I appreciate your concern for these two homeless cats and all that you have done for them. The neighbor who put one of them out should be sent to purgatory.
Anyone in his or her right mind would find a home or surrender their cat to a shelter for adoption if they could no longer keep the cat. Perhaps the cat was stinking up the house with his strong tomcat urine, which could have been easily fixed with neutering.
I urge you to humanely trap the two cats again and give them to your local shelter or cat-rescue network of people who take in and rehabilitate/socialize animals like these two so they are adoptable. There are far too many poor cats surviving and suffering like these two for which there can be no excuse.
