Question:
My daughter, who has three cats, told me an enchanting story of a recent experience. I said she should write it up and send it to an animal expert, so here it is: "I bought a Led Zeppelin concert DVD that was delivered this week, so last night I watched it. I was maybe 90 minutes into it, and our cat Mooner was perched in his usual place on the couch. Other cats were nowhere to be seen. When 'Whole Lotta Love' came on, cat Mitzi appeared and plopped herself down in front of the TV, but was not watching it. She stretched out and rolled around on her back, then rolled some more. While on her back, her paws were going all over the place in the air -- she was dancing! This went on for a couple of minutes, and I was just amazed. Unknown to me, Mooner was also watching Mitzi and when she got up and left, Mooner went to the exact same place and imitated what she just did -- same rolling around, same feet in the air!"

Answer:
Cats are indeed "copycats," but responding to a rock concert and moving limbs in rhythm with the music is truly notable. I would appreciate hearing from other readers on how their cats, dogs and other pets respond to music and DVD concerts. The CD series "Through a Dog's Ear
" provides classical-music scores that many dogs seem to enjoy. Maybe cats would, too.
