Question:
I am being deluged by animal groups such as PETA, the ASPCA, the Humane Society and about a dozen others. I'd like to know, in your opinion, which groups are worth contributing to and which are not.

Answer:
There are several national animal-rights and protection organizations with different agendas, priorities and tactics. I advise you to write to them for their literature and mission statements so you can decide for yourself which to support. Or, if you have a computer, look them up on the Internet. Most important, to me, is to support your LOCAL animal shelter, humane society and organizations protecting wildlife and habitat and promoting organic farming in your state. It is best to "think global and act local." You can't help animals or save the world if you don't first see to your own community.
