Help, help, triple help! How can I get my domestic shorthaired feline to stop urinating and defecating everywhere in my home? He has a clean litter box.I've spanked him (which I've discovered is a no-no). I've sprayed his face with water when he's in the act. I've even locked him in a room with only his food, water and the litter box; but when he's released he's back to his horrible ways.I don't want to give away my pet of eight years, but my house is beginning to smell and I don't like it. Please help.

Any cat who becomes a house-soiler like yours should not be harshly disciplined. Your treatment of your cat could make his condition worse. He could be suffering from chronic and painful cystitis.You need to take him to a veterinarian who can give him a thorough physical checkup and look for possible emotional/psychological reasons for his disturbed and disturbing behavior.
